WHAT IS UPSC...???

The UPSC is said to reform the civil services examinations with many changes that are expected to be dynamic and are suggested to enhance the features of the existing system with an ultimate objective of recruiting ethical professionals, rather ending up in selecting professionals who are in turn good with subject knowledge, but alien to moral and ethical values!

Getting a job in the civil services cadre is not only a huge dream, but also an honorable vision for any Indian citizen! The UPSC is fulfilling such dreams of its people, via its new scheme of exams, namely the CSAT.

Features:-
  • The CSAT syllabus are said to have more emphasis on the ‘Moral and Ethical’ values.
  • It is also said that the interview procedures would be focused on testing the candidates’ ethical attitude, besides the winning aptitude.
  • The objective of UPSC in deciding the question pattern of civil services examinations does demand huge appreciation, as it focuses on the civil services aptitude of the candidates and moral and ethical values and that are considered, as the key factors for any designations that are associated with the civil services cadre. Such motives of UPSC are praiseworthy, as it has gone way beyond the normal boundaries of the syllabus. The significant fact about the syllabus is that it measures the ethical values of the candidates. This is fantastic and this is what required in today’s world, where most of the people do not possess it!
Advantages
  • Common aptitude test for all the candidates, irrespective of the civil services, like, IAS/IPS/IFS, and other Group A / Group B job categories, which is covered in the Regulation Act.
  • No confusions of significance, regarding the concentration to the subjects, i.e. in the present scenario, the Civil Services examination comprises of two subjects for preliminary examinations, such as ‘General Studies’ and ‘Optional Subjects’. Some people would be convenient with the general subjects and others might concentrate more on optional subjects, but there would be a bigger percentage of candidates, who are confused regarding the percentage of concentration in these two subjects.
  • The new scheme of UPSC CSAT comprises of two common, objective type, question papers and does not contain any subject specifications, such as general studies, or choices of optional subjects. Hence, there would be two common question papers, consisting of multiple-choice questions that would be in turn common to all the candidates, who are aspiring to appear to the UPSC examinations.
  • Recently, the government received many complaints regarding the civil services examinations, as the previous versions of the civil service examination are said to be biased on some grounds. This is the reason for the UPSC and the government to come up with a new scheme of UPSC examinations under the category called as the ‘Civil Services Aptitude Test’. Now, the candidates could breathe properly, as the UPSC Exams (CSAT) is said to be common, thereby avoiding any misconceptions.
Disadvantages
  • The age limit is said to be reduced. The UPSC has advised the government on the same.
  • The number of attempts that a person is eligible for are also said to be reduced. The UPSC has advised the government of India, regarding the reduction of number of attempts of a candidate.
  • There are speculations regarding the changes in the main examination too. This is confusing many candidates, as they are not been provided with any clear information/instructions.

    How to prapare for CAT exam

    As the exam nears, you will need to create a plan to help you study effectively and minimize stress. The first step is to figure out how much time and effort you must dedicate to studying for the exam by asking the following questions:
    • How much material do you need to cover?
    • How difficult is the material?
    • How much time is available?
    • Do you have any other priorities during the study period?
    • What is the format of the exam?
    • How important is the exam?
    • What is your performance target for the exam?
    Here are some tips to follow in creating your study plan:
    • budget your time realistically;
    • allocate the study time into several manageable study sessions;
    • divide the course material into small segments and assign them to the study sessions;
    • set clear and specific goals for the study sessions;
    • prioritize to ensure that material weighted more heavily in the exam gets sufficient study time;
    • take into account your familiarity with the material and the difficulty level;
    • don’t make the study sessions too long;
    • study sessions should have enough variety in terms of topics and activities to prevent boredom and loss of effectiveness;
    • avoid cramming before the exam; and
    • Don’t forget to include regular breaks.
    Knowing the course material is necessary but not sufficient to guarantee success on the exam - you also need to be able to communicate the answers effectively under exam conditions. Practice using sample questions in the same format as the exam and answer them in a simulated test environment. The sample questions can be sourced from old exams and assignments, which are often similar from year to year with small changes. Even though you are only practicing, it is better to write full answers to the questions so you can work through the entire thought process.
    Coachings are helpful for Cat. They will teach you some shortcut methods and you will get chance to appear in Mock Cats. It is tough to say for best coaching. It completely depends on faculty. Before joining any coaching classes, first consult to students who are already joined.
    So doing, one time hard work will make your fortune. What is your attitude………….
    If any further question come in your mind, plz drop in comments. I will try best for you dear

    WHAT IS GRE ??

    The Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) is a standardized test that is an admissions requirement for many graduate schools in the United States, in other English-speaking countries and for English-taught graduate and business programs world-wide. Created and administered by Educational Testing Service (or ETS) in 1949, the exam aims to measure verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, analytical writing and critical thinking skills that have been acquired over a long period of time and that are not related to any specific field of study. The GRE General Test is offered as a computer-based, computer adaptive exam administered by selected qualified testing centers; however, paper-based exams are offered in areas of the world where computer-based testing is not available.
    In the graduate school admissions process, the level of emphasis that is placed upon GRE scores varies widely between schools and between departments within schools. The importance of a GRE score can range from being a mere admission formality to an important selection factor.
    Critics of the GRE have argued that the exam format is so rigid that it effectively tests only how well a student can conform to a standardized test taking procedure. ETS responded by announcing plans in 2006 to radically redesign the test structure starting in the fall of 2007; however, the company later announced, "Plans for launching an entirely new test all at once were dropped, and ETS decided to introduce new question types and improvements gradually over time." The new questions have been gradually introduced since November 2007.As a result of further research the GRE General Test is being revised, and will be launched in August 2011.
    The cost of the general test varies between US$160 and $210, depending on the country of taking the test, although ETS will reduce the fee under certain circumstances. They are promoting financial aid to those GRE applicants who prove economic hardship. ETS erases all test records that are older than 5 years, although graduate program policies on the admittance of scores older than 5 years will vary.
